WERKHAUS is a brand new DIY venue situated in the heart of East London, opposite Brick Lane’s Rough Trade East. Formerly the upstairs back room of Café 1001, we have just recently relaunched the space, with a new name, stage, and marketing campaign. We have a very DIY, subculture inspired ethos at the heart of our bookings, and our main focus is underground upcoming music, focusing on indie rock, post punk, psych rock, grime, hip-hop, trap, indie pop, and so on, booking artists and DJs to accommodate our eclectic blend of genres. The next year will be really important for us in terms of booking the best new bands, as well as working with as many new magazines, labels, and promoters for live nights, as well as photographers and artists for the rotating exhibition which we are looking to launch in the venue’s bar space. The venue space has a full PA and backline, with a stunning stage and lights system in place which makes our gigs look and sound as impressive as possible. We’re really passionate about supporting new DIY artist, and one of the main reasons behind our venue re-brand was so we could push and support these artists, giving them the exposure they deserve.
