The Glad Café operates as both a café and a venue in the Shawlands area of the southside of Glasgow. It aims to have something to offer people of any age or background in this diverse and vibrant local community. Our well equipped venue provides a welcome space in the southside for showcasing up and coming local musicians as well as world and traditional musicians. The space has become known for its great acoustic and the quality of the programme which also includes film, drama, storytelling and philosophical talks. With a standing capacity of 120, we can hold intimate, fantastic looking and sounding shows. Our Venue has been set up with performers, sound engineers and of course, the viewer in mind. We have a high definition film projector with a Blu-Ray player and a screen, making film screenings easily achievable. Our very eclectic programme of events has hosted shows with a wide range of world class musicians including Norman Blake, Alasdair Roberts, Loscil, Rustie, Trembling Bells, Peter Brotzmann, Paul Nilssen-Love, Cuushe, Withered Hand, Richard Youngs, Ricky Ross, Cate Le Bon, Six Organs of Admittance, Euro Childs, Aus, Ed Askew, Mazes, Glenn Johns, Mike Heron, Ryan Francesconi & Mirabai Peart, BMX Bandits, Selvhenter, Naomi Punk, Honeyblood, White, Oren Ambarchi, Josef Van Wissem and many, many more.
